Is it worth considering a section be added to this website to discuss [Did you know ________________________ (servicemembers name)].
Some of us [x] A. Remember old shipmates whose current whereabouts are long since lost to obscurity.
Some of us are [x] B. Military brats seeking to learn more about what our parents did in the service.
Some of us were [x]C. Born of military family traditions with Aunts and Uncles and even Grandparents who served in previous eras.
Some of us *raises hand* are [x] D. All of the above.
I doubt it's been so long that the folks who served with my father in the USAF-Security Service would all be passed away. Due to security constraints during his career, he said nothing of his duties and function, ergo we as kids knew exceedingly little of dads service.
What he knew he took with him to the grave.
Retired Tin Can rider here, seeking anyone who knew or knew of USAF A1c ~ SSgt Franklyn Norman Mills.
Dad was a radio maintainer (203X) for the USAF-Security Service. Search for old shipmates
I agree that having a page to place information of a long lost buddy would be ideal. I think most of us are sharing a similar task of searching for past buddies and acquaintances.
Great suggestion Don. I am confident that Steve can come up with an answer. Further, I would like to express my thanks to Steve for a job well done, creating veteran.com.

Do you know?
Yes, I think it is a great idea. As this site gains momentum, I can think of a few whom I will search for that I served with in past times. I am presently trying to get in contact with a fellow Marine whom I have lost contact, and this may help in that endeavor. Thanks

I don't know that patroit
I don't know that patroit but, I like your ideal. Maybe Steve, the head chief here can come up with an easy way to search and add info..
Memorial Page
Gunner, That is an interesting suggestion. I have considered creating a "Memorial" page for users to post a picture with details of their military relative's life and service, with a comment area for friends and relatives to leave comments/memories. The memorial page creator would be able to delete any comments they believed to be inappropriate. The problem is that it all takes extra work to create something like that and integrate it into the system. Veteran.com can't be all things to all people, so there would have to be some need/demand for such a project. I'd like to hear what other users have to say, and hopefully they'll comment here. - Steve
p.s. in the meantime, you can post a picture of your father on this forum page, and that might help jog someones memory about him.
Did you know...
Steve,
I know of only 2 pictures of my father. One from Korea in his Army greens, and one from the topo map at Mud Island in Memphis. He ran from cameras (as do I). Unfortunately as a result of my relationship with the woman who gave birth to me and my siblings I doubt I will ever see either of those pictures ever again.
However the quest goes on and I may get lucky.
May I also add that dad is mentioned in the memorial pages of the Misawa USAFSS web site < http://www.usafssmisawa.com/prd/eagles.php?grp=3#m > and the 6924th Scty Sqdrn web site, as well as on the Stormloader site < http://www.stormloader.com/conj/Mills.html > put together by the sister of one of the crew members killed in the crash at Danang dad was a rescuer at.
On the plus side, invariably one of these days someone will wander onto this site with a techno know how to to index this topic into a format more user friendly (no to infer the presnet configuration is at all difficult, if an old BB stacker like me can figure it out). One of those 'everybody knows something' circumstances, it's just a matter of being patient until the right guy or gal comes along.
