Locating Army Records

I am trying to locate records from my father's time in serving in Vietnam. We were estranged and I don't have access to his SS# or a Service number. Is there anyway without that important information that I can find anything out??? He recently passed away and I would like to know more about his time in the military. The only thing I know is he was suffering the side effects of Agent Orange. If anyone can offer information I would be terribly greatful.

Condolences on the loss of your father. You need to submit a SF180, located on the net. Your mother must know his ss number or have some military records of your father. The SF180 will allow you to obtain copies of his military record and also replacment awards of his. Also if you have your fathers information contact the DAV would be helpful also for information on his records.
But remember you 'must" be related to obtain records.
