my·o·pi·a (mº-½"p¶-…) n. 1. A visual defect in which distant objects appear blurred because their images are focused in front of the retina rather than on it; nearsightedness. Also called short sight. 2. Lack of discernment or long-range perspective in thinking or planning. --my·op"ic (-¼p"¹k, -½"p¹k) adj. --my·op"i·cal·ly adv.
Reading news reports, blogs, newsletters, RSS feeds, newspapers brought me to think about the definition of the word: Myopia.
Concerning Iraq, I am the same as anyone else wishing this war ended and our troops were all brought back home. Probably to be sent on to Africa and Darfur, the Democrats present holy ground, it seems.
Why Myopia? Think about it.
I read one poster somewhere say that if the Iraqis are so disgruntled with American forces they should just take a vote and send us packing home. News articles berate our President for wanting to maintain a balance of power in a volatile area of the world.
Am I in the minority who looks to the future and dread the idea of a Mideast controlled by fanatics with nuclear weapons and the worlds oil reserves? Don’t these folks who want us to cut and run from Iraq even think of what that part of the world will become, if America retreats?
What is the difference between Kurdish children slaughtered, en masse, in northern Iraq and the children being slaughtered in Africa? The Democrats would have us abandon Iraq only to get involved in Darfur and the Sudan.
The Mideast exports oil, funds, terrorism, support and nuclear technology to the terrorist enemies of America and Africa supplies starving children to die off, with bloated bodies, flies in their eyes and mouths, or for Hollywood liberals to adopt and parade through the liberal MSM to show off their caring and diversity. Which is more important to the future of America and the well being of our children and grandchildren?
Yes, myopia best describes these people who would abandon the future of generations of Americans!
