This is a picture of the Pathet Lao's gun boat on the Mekong at Vientiane, Laos in Nov. 1960 waiting to repel any attack from Thailand. In December, right wing forces pushed up the Mekong and retook Vientiane after a four day battle.

This picture was taken with four Thai Rangers posing as Jap tourist. At the time, I was a PEO civilian (in reality Army) and under the rule of the communist government and these Thai Rangers thought it would be funny to have our picture made with communist and "neutralist" troops.
