- My Military Career Field
- I entered the Air Force out of college as a Sky Cop – guarding airplanes no one wanted to steal and fences that weren’t going to wander off. I either didn’t pay attention (most likely) or forgot the old adage to never volunteer for anything – so I went on a lot of jerk around tdy’s and to a lot of training I wasn’t qualified to even attend. All of that served me well in the future., I crossed into Command Control (Command Post) when only E-4 retrainees were being accepted., Offutt in Omaha, Andersen on Guam, Chanute in Illinois, Suwon in Korea, Andersen again, Hickam in Hawaii, F.E. Warren in Wyoming and Patrick in Florida were my assignment bases.
- About Me
I retired in 1997 – almost missed the ceremony because I was already double dipping up at the Red Stone Army Arsenal in Alabama as a contractor while on terminal leave. I did another Saudi tour with that company, then Deutsche Bank decided they absolutely had to have me in Tokyo – top dollar sort of offer made me give up government service. Let’s see – hard to decide Saudi or Tokyo!
Came home again and did a stint as a recruiter and did pretty good until I realized I’d turned into a natural liar. Two weeks with my sons in the Gulf of Mexico cured me of that – so reinvented myself – then wham! Three old injuries from 91 in Kuwait did me in – 3 spinal surgeries later, drugged to heaven and back and literally on my back, I had to make some life changing choices.
Now I do this – try to help Military / Vets with finding jobs using the skills I learned over the years especially as a recruiter (no lying involved thank God) and taking each day as it arrives. Having fun, some depression some days, lots of happiness when the kids call.
